MENO’s current coupons are percentage discounts that apply automatically when a customer orders from an outlet with a coupon assigned. Customers do not enter a coupon code. The code is used for internal reference and future functionality.
The calculation sequence
When a customer’s cart is assessed for a coupon, MENO first checks whether the cart meets any minimum-order requirement configured for that coupon. If it does, MENO calculates the percentage discount on the eligible merchandise value. The bill summary then shows the automatic coupon discount, along with the subtotal, any applicable VAT/tax display, delivery fee when known, total, and total savings.
A coupon can have no minimum-order requirement. In that case, the automatic percentage discount can apply without this eligibility threshold, subject to any item exclusions.
Minimum order: use the full subtotal
The minimum-order check always uses the full cart subtotal. This is important when the coupon excludes particular items: excluded items still count towards meeting the minimum-order threshold, even though they do not receive a discount.
For example, imagine a coupon with a 10% discount, a minimum order of 50, and one excluded item. A customer’s cart contains 40 of eligible merchandise and 15 of the excluded item. The full subtotal is 55, so the cart meets the minimum order. MENO calculates the 10% discount on the 40 of eligible merchandise, not on the full 55.
If that same cart contained 35 of eligible merchandise and 10 of the excluded item, its full subtotal would be 45. It would not meet the 50 minimum, so the coupon discount would not apply.
Excluded items and delivery fees
When item exclusions are enabled, the merchant selects excluded items from the workspace catalog. Those items remain at their regular price and are not included in the discounted value. They can still contribute to the full subtotal used for the minimum-order check.
The current percentage coupon logic does not discount delivery fees. The coupon discount applies to eligible merchandise or order-subtotal values only, rather than to the delivery fee.
What customers see
When the current outlet has a coupon attached, customers see a promotional banner at the top of the customer-facing experience. At checkout or in the bill summary, MENO displays the coupon discount automatically. Total savings can include both coupon savings and item sale savings.
Each outlet can have only one coupon assigned at a time. This means an order is assessed against the coupon assigned to its outlet, rather than against multiple coupons or customer-entered codes.
