Customer checkout collects the details needed for an order after a customer has built a cart. What appears can depend on the selected order type and the payment methods the merchant has configured.
Sign in and order review
A customer who is not already signed in is taken to phone verification before checkout continues. They enter a phone number and receive the verification code through WhatsApp. After successful verification, they return to checkout.
The Checkout page can display the current basket in a collapsible summary. Customers can select Edit to return to the cart and change the basket. Choosing Edit does not create an order.
Contact information
Checkout requires the customer’s full name. The customer can then choose which phone number should be used as the contact number for the order:
- Use the verified phone number uses the number verified through WhatsApp.
- Use a different contact phone number lets the customer enter a secondary contact number.
The different contact number does not require OTP verification. It is an order contact number only. The WhatsApp-verified phone number remains the customer’s MENO identity, and stored customer data is associated with that verified number.
Delivery address
For a Delivery order, checkout includes the selected delivery address. A customer can use a saved address or add a new one. Address details can include an address label, a map pin, a readable address, building or cluster name, apartment and floor or villa number, and an optional landmark.
An address must still be eligible under the outlet’s delivery-zone settings. Selecting or entering an address does not override those delivery rules.
Payment method
Checkout can show the payment-method choices configured by the merchant, such as Cash on Delivery, Credit / Debit Card, or Pay via Link. The customer’s selection is recorded on the MENO order and shown to the merchant.
MENO does not process the payment transaction in this flow. Payment collection, payment links, card handling, refunds, and settlement are handled between the merchant and customer outside MENO.
Placing the order
When the customer selects Place Order, MENO creates the order and the merchant dashboard receives the order or notification. The customer then sees an Order Placed state.
MENO can then prompt the customer to open WhatsApp to the merchant’s configured WhatsApp order number with a prefilled message containing the MENO order link. The customer must confirm opening WhatsApp and tap Send there. The order already exists in MENO before the WhatsApp message is sent, so the merchant can still see the order if the customer does not send the WhatsApp message.
